Once fund-raising is complete the project will move forward very quickly. Thinking ahead can you spare some time to help us up set up the shop? There are lots of tasks that need some particular experience and we would appreciate your help. They range from one-off tasks which might take a couple of hours through to longer or more regular workstreams. We need help with tasks such as retail and café design, recruiting paid and volunteer staff, developing policies and training guides, web updating, setting up a Point of Sale system, identifying and working with local suppliers – and many, many more.
Please do contact us if you have skills and experience in any of these areas and could donate some of your time.
Later we will need volunteers to set up and run the shop and post office. At the community consultation in April 2022 there was a very enthusiastic response from about 60 prospective volunteers of all ages. At this level an offer of two hours per week would keep the shop running effectively and able to provide a wide range of services to the community including:
- Groceries
- Newspapers
- Takeaway refreshments
- Postal services
- Prescription collection
- Dry cleaning drop off and pick up
- Parcel collection and delivery point
- Advertisement board
- Tickets for local events
- Local delivery service
